THE PREVENTION OF GINGIVITIS

In my last post, I talked about the consequences of gingivitis. Now, I’m going to discuss how to prevent it. The bad bacteria that cause gingivitis can’t hide from the dental floss or fine toothbrush bristles that are worked into the gums. The slightest movement of either of these items will disturb the bacterial colonies so that healing saliva can control their growth and balance the flora that keeps our mouths healthy. The old adage is “If you floss your teeth you will live 7 years longer than if you don’t floss”. That comes from the fact that people who floss and brush their teeth under the gum-line regularly, DO NOT have bleeding gums. It is simple as this, “bacteria can’t get into the blood through healthy gums that don’t bleed”. Proper cleaning of the gum-line will cause bleeding because of the gingivitis and then the gums will heal because the bacteria have been evicted and they are kept out by repeating the cleansing described above. It is holistic to physically remove the bad bacteria with flossing and bristle-tips. Using chemicals and medicines is not holistic. So get flossing and get brushing into the gums.

My next post will be “HALITOSIS (BAD BREATH) AND THE TONGUE SCRAPER”. If
